Exide Technologies Regional Sales Manager - WEST Transportation Aftermarket in San Francisco, California

Overview

The Regional Sales Manager will have primary responsibility for all channel customer activity including total sales results in an assigned multi-state territory. This position is responsible for both acquisition and maintenance of dealer participation in various programs.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES / AUTHORITIES :

  • Customer contact, including personal visits as required and other forms of follow-up.

  • Training of customers’ personnel regarding battery sales techniques, technical information and programs.

  • Prospecting for new accounts, and determination of growth opportunities with existing accounts.

  • Salesforce Pipeline Management and Call Reporting

  • Customer service and problem resolution

  • Trade show coordination and presentation

  • Participation in special “sales blitz” campaigns in own territory or other territories as requested.

  • Maintaining adequate customer program knowledge

  • Maintaining adequate skill levels for job function

  • Sales & Presentation

  • Computer literacy

  • Information Retrieval

  • Attending Exide training programs or Exide sponsored training as required

  • Budget planning and execution

  • Interfacing with Key Account Managers for feedback & support

  • Obtaining and forwarding competitive intelligence from the marketplace

  • Receiving and executing directives from the Zone Manager

  • Additional assignments as required by Management Team

Qualifications

Required Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

We seek a candidate with a progressively responsible career history and demonstrated success in territory sales or key account management. He or she must possess a high level of business acumen and the quantitative/analytical capacity to understand complex sales processes. Strategic selling skills,effective negotiating skills, and commitment to customers are required. The successful candidate will have 3 – 5 years’ experience, effective salesmanship with well-developed sales skills. In addition to that, they must possess the following:

  • Knowledge of automotive aftermarket and products

  • An outstanding track record of influencing decisions and making a positive impact.

  • Energy, initiative, accountability and results orientation are required.

  • A progressively responsible career history and demonstrated success in territory sales

  • A high level of business acumen and the quantitative/analytical capacity to understand complex sales processes.

  • Skills to effectively use CRM tools in managing opportunities, win/loss of projects, and target objectives

  • Strategic selling skills, effective negotiating skills, and commitment to customers are required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Collaborative work style, one that solicits ideas and shares information to develop creative solutions and winning strategies across the Exide/GNB sales organization.

  • Resourcefulness and creativity, with excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Technical competency and be PC proficient, including standard business software and the Internet.

  • Integrity, team orientation and desire to over achieve are of the utmost importance.

Education and Experience :

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales

  • Bachelor's Degree is required in sales, marketing or a related field

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.

  • Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
