Exide Technologies Plant Maintenance Technician in Muncie, Indiana
Maintenance Technicians support Exide’s goal of Powering the World Forward as we provide world-class stored energy solutions that lead the industry in quality and performance that make a difference in people’s lives. Maintenance Technicians bring electrical and or mechanical skills to improve a plant’s production capability in order to run efficiently and reliably. Maintenance Techs perform a mix of reactive repairs and planned preventative work. You’ll gain exposure to both decades-old equipment and new equipment as part of Exide’s recent capital investments across the plants.
You are available to work various shifts and overtime, both scheduled and unplanned. Shift premiums available where applicable.
Starting pay likely $19.00/hour or more depending on location.

Maintain, repair or replace equipment, while performing basic mechanical and electrical repair work.
Maintain, solve problems, and repair, 120V - 480V 1 phase/3 phase electrical equipment.
Notice and report any abnormal conditions/ failures and take required corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of such conditions.
Perform machinery and basic equipment examinations to fix defects and visual wear.
Perform machine shop functions (sheet metal, steel layout and welding).
Support an environment of continuous improvement by making/implementing suggestions.
Comply with all safety requirements to include proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures
You have achieved a High School Diploma, GED, or greater
Experience in an industrial environment working within a maintenance (electrical/mechanical) department
Experience working with troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs preferred.
Read, write, and speak basic English to interpret work and apply safety instructions
You're capable of using a computer to review and update work orders.
You are able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for long periods of time.
All employees undergo a medical exam which includes a physical, drug screen and blood draw to get a baseline reading of blood-lead level prior to starting
All employees will be required to pass a background check
About the work environment:
Extreme heat environment, temperatures can reach over 100° Fahrenheit
We care about your health and safety so you'll need to be clean-shaven and required to wear full face respirators and ear plugs while inside the facility. You'll also follow strict hygiene rules including mandatory communal showering at the end of shift.
