Exide Technologies Statistical Engineer in Milton, Georgia
Seeking an individual to provide analysis and reporting on key external, in-process quality metrics, and final product characteristics, such as electrical performance and life. Additionally, this individual will explore and characterize the critical link between manufacturing and final product characteristics. This individual will be a key resource for sales, operations, engineering, and other groups, supplying timely statistical expertise and assistance to support critical business needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, preferably with experience in a manufacturing. A successful candidate share detailed, yet simplified study results through written reports, as well as cross functional team reviews, as well as with key customers.
Leads the monitoring, analysis, development of statistical methods, and the communication of actions to improve overall product quality for Transportation and Industrial businesses.
Assist with the development and deployment of standardized quality databases for each site, ensuring new database aligns with control plans and has consistent naming, test method’s, and frequencies across sites.
On-going monitoring and analysis of manufacturing, distribution, and recycling quality metrics, which may include identifying issues with data integrity and quality, tracking and prioritization of processes for improvement activities, comparisons across plants to identify areas for improvement, and exploratory analyses to troubleshoot performance issues or customer complaints.
Analysis of relationships between in-process metrics and final product performance and life.
Coordination, analysis and reporting of warranty returns.
Coordination, analysis and reporting of routine electrical testing.
Schedule and facilitate monthly compliance meetings and manage action logs.
Coordinate quarterly sampling to verify product performance.
Update and maintain Battery Performance Testing Selection and processing to document product compliance.
Custom reporting and analysis to support requests by sales, operations, engineering, and other functions.
Perform customer battery short service life root cause analysis.
Conduct product electrical performance analysis to support the requests of new customers.
Detailed warranty trend analysis across different customers, locations, and product types.
Evaluation of proposed changes to electrical ratings or warranty policies.
Exploratory analyses to help identify opportunities within customer-base or product offerings, ultimately helping to drive warranty reduction and performance-related issues.
Responsible for updating and reviewing documentation such as Quality Instructions, Control Plans, and other specifications as needed.
Working with Product and Process Engineering Teams as Technical Expert on Statistical Analysis.
Work with manufacturing plants to optimize KPI measurements utilizing MSA’s on all new testing procedures. Communicate results and work across facilities to standardize approach and methodology.
Ensure warranty and customer returns are evaluated, documented, and corrective actions are identified, implemented, and verified.
Participate in APQP activities, including PFMEA development and PPAP, for new or existing products and provide leadership to maintain focus on customer quality requirements in a mass production environment.
Collaborate with quality management to determine root cause for defects and quality complaints.
Lead activities to obtain facts, perform root cause analysis, duplicate defects, and develop corrective actions. This person will interact with engineering, production, and other departments to implement corrective actions.
Utilize results from Exide PSR (Process Stability Ratio) tracking to prioritize continuous improvement activities.
Work with teams on problem solving initiatives and link actions and outcomes to Control Plans, PFMEA’s, plant inspection points, and customer returns.
Work within established policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
Educations, Experience, Certifications:
Minimum of 4 year technical degree in statistics, mathematics, engineering or quality.
Advanced degree preferred.
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
Experience with SPC, capability analysis, MSA, experimental design, regression, non-parametric methods, and working with real data sets to solve business problems with data analysis.
Attention to detail and ability to identify and troubleshoot data issues.
Ability to grasp data and business issues and interpret analytical findings pertinent to business needs.

Must be quality and customer oriented.
Able to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment on multiple projects.
Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent Microsoft Excel, Minitab, PowerPoint, and Access skills, or other related software required.
Experience with statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, or R desired.
Experience with data warehousing, SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and AS400 a plus.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in statistical analysis preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Higher education may be substituted for part of the work experience.
