Exide Technologies Manager, Infrastructure - North America in Milton, Georgia


The Infrastructure Manager will work within the Global Infrastructure team for North America (NA) and be responsible for the network and infrastructures at the Milton Campus and all other locations in North America including factories, distribution centers and sales offices.

This will include supervising and monitoring the day to day operations required to ensure the local servers & storage devices / network are running smoothly, and also the local IT infrastructure throughout North America. This will include IT Asset / Vendor administration and VoIP/Collaboration/Mail administration which impact Exide users.

This role will also help to coordinate the maintenance and troubleshooting of the deployed local network and infrastructure including peripheral items directly or indirectly associated with the local infrastructure.

The NA Infrastructure Manager will report to the Global Infrastructure Operations Director and work closely with other colleagues in the Global Infrastructure group, and also help provide guidance on the global actions that are being put in place as part of the Global IT strategy.


  • Ensure the computer network is fully operational at all times by taking reactive and proactive action to achieve this

  • Support the Global Infrastructure Teams on related projects, which are being rolled out globally, or across North America

  • Occasional travel to the other sites within North America to complete any necessary IT system work and end user support

  • Ensure all tasks given via the Global Infrastructure group or initiated via the helpdesk are carried through to completion

  • Provide reactive support to all end users by addressing assigned help desk incidents on Infrastructure related issues from own knowledge

  • Provide operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, printers, storage devices, mobile devices, network devices and VoIP or Collaboration solution

  • Liaise, setup and support remote users connectivity

  • Support and administer the VoIP infrastructure across all locations in North America

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support on the Infrastructure scope including manufacturing & supply chain infrastructure

  • Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures

  • Has an understanding of IT business Objectives and works with business to meet these objectives

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks

  • Manages and coordinates the IT Infrastructure Budget and Contractors for North America. This will include providing status reports showing actual spend versus budget, and tacking this throughout the Financial Year, and as well periodic activity reports follow-up

  • Will be the single point of presence for infrastructure related vendor management, including meeting coordination and contract reviews

  • Spend 10-20% of the time travelling to sites in North America


  • Infrastructure, Network and Management Skills:

  • Technical experience at both a Design level and a hands on level

  • Technical understanding of existing environment and make value added recommendations

  • Have at least 10 years’ experience in an IT support environment, networking, and Call center environment

  • Good working knowledge of current Operating Systems, switches, LAN environments and Cloud services (i.e. AWS, Google)

  • Problem Solving both inside and outside the box thinking

  • Be Customer service oriented

  • Quality Management of services provided and have a continuous improvement plan

  • Sense of urgency when assigned tasks

  • Proactively monitors environment for issues and improvement opportunities

  • Incident handling for site wide critical issues

  • Proven track record of troubleshooting hardware and software issues

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and methodically

  • Able to manage a project, internal/external contractors team, vendors, budget and initiative

  • Develop management skills and establish close relationship with Level 2 & Level 3 Infrastructure group (i.e. NOC, SOC, …)

  • Be motivated by Manufacturing environments

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university plus 5 or more years of increasing responsibility within the area of infrastructure or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • CCNA (Cisco) network certification and PMP (PMI) certification preferred

  • Workday Requirements – 5 x 8 (5 days 8 hours in Milton offices) / OT - As needed to accomplish objectives and duties

  • Language: Capability to speak and write in English is mandatory
