Overview

Responsible for defining and implementing financial control procedures, systems and standards as may be required for the proper performance of the accounting function within the limits of approved company practice. The Division Controller is an active resource in keeping the Finance Department and other members of the Departmental Staffs apprised of deviations, analyzing performance and bringing best practices to the Divisions. This position must advise Matrix Reports of ways to improve financial performance by leading budgets, PMO and Strategic Planning for the Divisions, comprehending strong historical performance and making recommendations with quantifications to improve the financial performance of the Divisions. This position requires less than 50% Travel.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and carries out regular reviews of Divisional and location operating and capital budgets identifying and reporting deviations from plan to management.

  • Monitors all spending and reports monthly, quarterly and annual results to management.

  • Analyzes operating results and expense.

  • Assists Divisions in evaluating performance and actions necessary to improve results.

  • Works with regional controllers and divisional controllers to drive the long term planning and budgeting processes, organizing working sessions to compile and consolidate the operating and capital expense needs of the division across the Exide company

  • Monitors fixed assets. Coordinates and supervises annual fixed asset inventories. Coordinates the preparation of expenditure requests (CERs) and actively works with the initiators of CERs to quantify acceptable levels of investment returns.

  • Responsible for the training of Department employees, planning, assigning, and directing their work activities.

  • Works with all levels of plant and divisional personnel on issues including budgeting, assessment of cost reduction recommendations and comparison of actual results to plan.

  • Prepare ad hoc reports as directed.

  • Interprets company policies to Division and location personnel.

  • Communicates closely with all Department managers and supervisors to ensure positive outcomes.

  • Manages PMO documentation, planning and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field required, including MBA. CPA a plus.

  • Minimum 10 years of financial or accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 7 years of supervisory experience.

  • CAPM or PMP certification a plus.

  • Fiduciary responsibility for at least $200 million dollar organization, 700 employees

  • Experience with the financials of a large-size manufacturing facility.

  • Must have knowledge of spreadsheet application software programs.

  • JDEdwards MRP System experience a plus.

  • Essbase experience a plus.

  • Advanced Excel, pivot tables, V-lookup, graphing, bridge analysis, waterfall charts

  • Ability to compose reports, procedures, policies and general business correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information to any level of management.

  • Very strong analytical experience, normalizing and summarizing large amounts of data.
