Exide Technologies Community Relations/Talent Scout in Manchester, Iowa


The Community Relations/Talent Scout is a key member of Exide Technologies’ Human Resources team supporting the Manchester, IA manufacturing plant. This person will work with the plant leadership team to help market, attract and hire the best employees for the plant. The Community Relations/Talent Scout will develop relationships with:

  • High schools, technical/community colleges, local universities

  • State workforce agencies (IowaWorks, Delaware County Economic Development, etc.)

  • Veteran organizations (HomeBase Iowa, other)

  • Other

The Community Relations/Talent Scout will also coordinate the plant's community engagement.

The Community Relations/Talent Scout will provide plant tours and support the hiring process as needed.


  • Learn the business. Within the first 60-days, develop the plan, revise and begin to learn about Exide, the manufacturing plant, and the leadership team. Be prepared to offer plant tours by the 90th day. Develop the story and work with the team in Milton, GA to review marketing efforts.

  • Deliver results. Using the existing plan, execute the previously identified outreach initiatives. Continue to grow the plan by identifying new opportunities in the surrounding areas. Document the efforts to ensure transparency, timely and accurate reporting.

  • Develop the budget and plan for community engagement. As opportunities are identified, work with leadership to determine which ones best fit the plan and strategy. Lead/participate and coordinate the efforts, identifying employees to participate as needed.

  • Identify up and coming talent. As people learn more about Exide, connect them to the recruiting process for immediate or future positions.

  • Be a team player. Provide Human Resources/Recruiting support if as needed. Demonstrate leadership and model Exide values of Integrity, Accountability, Quality, Safety, Courage, and Customer Success in all interactions.


  • Prior experience in public relations/social media, economic development, sales, recruiting, account management, or doing similar work as to the Overview and Responsibilities outlined.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk through the manufacturing plant to provide tours; plant may have extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)

  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc., as outlined in established department PPE policy.

  • Must have a valid driver's license to be able to drive and make overnight trips as required

Education, Experience, Skills Required:

  • Bachelors degree preferred.

  • Previous manufacturing experience helpful.

  • Computer savvy (Excel/Sheets, Gmail, Facebook, Internet for research)

  • Must think strategically about the plan, but be comfortable executing and driven for results. Someone who needs a lot of structure may struggle.

  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred
