Exide Technologies Maintenance Manager in Kansas City, Missouri


This position will manage, plan, organize, control, and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and service of plant manufacturing equipment, buildings, and facilities to ensure optimum production effectiveness. It will comply with company policies and procedures relating to health, safety and personnel practices.


Organize, direct, and control all aspects of the Maintenance Department.

Manages maintenance operations, which includes Supervisors, Leads, and Technicians.

Oversee all aspects of Maintenance operation software to include MRO, work order control, and Predictive maintenance and equipment efficiencies progress report.

Oversee MRO budget and Maintenance labor budget.

Oversee and coordinate all plant shutdown activities relating to Maintenance labor, equipment repair, and equipment startup.

Coordinate and implement maintenance safety and equipment training programs.

Responsible for development of teams relating to the elimination of critical equipment downtime issue (root cause).

Responsible for continuous improvement in all areas of Maintenance department.

Leads Maintenance department in direction of identifying best practices that reduce equipment downtime, eliminate equipment recurring issues, and improve overall department efficiencies.

Responsible for equipment standardization program, equipment continuous improvement program, and cost savings program.

Interprets company policies to Supervisors and enforces safety regulations.

Communicates closely with all department Managers and Supervisors to ensure positive outcomes.

Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.

Follow Lean manufacturing procedures.


Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Management preferred.

6+ years experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Supervision, OR a combination of education and experience.

Must have exceptional organizational skill, must have multi-tasking skills, must be a team-oriented person with exceptional communication skills, and must be a self-starter.
