Exide Technologies Environmental Health and Safety Manager in Kansas City, Missouri


Responsible for the management of facility environmental, health and safety programs required to ensure conformance with corporate policies and compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.


  • Overall management of programs and activities required under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

  • Provide on-boarding and required annual safety and environmental training for all plant employees.

  • Coordinate efforts of plant team during implementation of immediate and long term corrective actions for EHS deficiencies.

  • Track all EHS related near-misses and incidents and resulting corrective actions.

  • Maintain OSHA 300 Log and Intelex database of incidents, events, regulatory inspections, audits and corrective actions.

  • Drive safety improvement projects.

  • Oversight for the facility-wide Housekeeping Program.Maintain the site Lead Compliance Program as required under

  • OSHA 29 CFR1910.1025, including the medical monitoring program.

  • Environmental management including evaluation, coordination and implementation of programs, policies, practices and activities to control and reduce air emissions, monitor industrial wastewater treatment and discharges, manage and minimize solid and hazardous waste, and to manage activities required under the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act and all other applicable environmental laws and regulations.

  • Completion and submittal of all required EHS reports, i.e., Tier 2, etc.

  • Auditing of facility programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Perform facility inspections and audits and ensure maintenance of required records.

  • Coordination of environmental improvement projects as required.

  • Coordination with Corporate EHS Department on facility audits, risk assessments, corporate program alignment, activities and responses to corporate data inquiries.

  • Training and oversight of facility personnel performing EHS-related duties.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and Exide EHS leadership.

  • Partner with site leadership to ensure effective implementation of Exide’s EHS Management System.


Education, Experience, Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-management or EHS technical discipline such as Environmental Engineering, EnvironmentalHealth, Industrial Hygiene or Safety, with 5-8 years’ experience in EHS roles

  • Professional certification preferred (CSP, CIH, CHMM)

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal, state and local regulations and technical procedures.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHS laws and regulations.

  • Ability to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs.

  • Leadership ability.
