Exide Technologies Operations Production Assembler in Charlottesville, Virginia


The Production Assembler is responsible for producing components by assembling parts and subassemblies in accordance with established standards and processes/procedures. This is the entry level and consists of knowledge of 25% - 50% of the manufacturing process.


  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, drawing specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials

  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies

  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component

  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results

  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms

  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Report problems with quality, processes, equipment and material to Production Manager

  • Other duties as necessary

Non-Essential Job Functions

  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment


  • Ability to maintain quality, and safety standards

  • Ability to read and write

  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures

  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic

  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds
